Adding Skills
The overall goal is to make fights more interesting to watch and deeper strategically. The big changes:
-Many new skills added. Before there was only one attack that bees used; now there are many different options
-Your Bee starts with one skill, and you can teach it more as you go, the same way that you can train its stats
-Increased hitstun, so that bees can combo each other
-Added a concept I like from Smash Bros, "Directional Influence" or DI - when a bee is in hitstun, it can still change the direction it's heading somewhat. I also made bees take more damage if they're hit while in an attack, in order to make it a bit more punishing for bees to just spam attacks over and over.
Because there were a lot of big changes, the game will be even more janky than usual for a while.
-Overview of skills
Poke: a quick attack that darts in and out a little bit
Extend: a slower attack that lasts a longer time
Stab: a heavy attack that does a ton of damage if it hits, but is easily punished if dodged
Swipe: a sideswipe. Does more damage if the bee is moving fast while it hits the opponent.
Guard: the bee guards, taking much less damage if it's hit, and opening the opponent up for an easy counter. However, it can be countered by getting hit from behind or by grab.
Grab: a grab. Does more damage if the bee is bigger than the opponent, and less if it's smaller. Also, counters guard.
